Integrals, Series

The diversity of problems whose solutions require the calculation of integrals or the summation of series has given rise to a large number of handbooks in this field of classical analysis. One of these handbooks which reflects most fully the principal results of the period of compilation is the well-known Table of Integrals, Series, and Products by I. S. Gradshtein and I. M. Ryzhik. This set of tables contains formulas which were obtained up to the end of the 1940s. Since then, interest in this field of mathematical analysis has not abated, and the requirements of practical applications have made it necessary to publish a more complete handbook reflecting the modern results. In this connection, the Russian edition of our book Integrals and Series: Elementary Functions appeared in 1981; that volume contains integrals and series involving elementary functions and overlaps to a great extent with the corresponding sections of the above-mentioned handbook.
The present volume contains indefinite and definite (including multiple) integrals, finite sums, and series involving special functions. It has been written with a view to satisfying the requirements of a wide range of specialists in various fields of science and engineering and includes results set forth in books of a similar kind and in recent scientific and periodical literature. A number of results are being published here for the first time.
